    The main objective of this project is the development of a people localization system using WiFi signal strenght measure. The system uses a priori radio map that is generated with an automatic training method based on a robotic system. In this manner the calibration effort can be reduced. The system can be applied to localize interesting points, like meeting rooms, operating room, etc., inside a building The system has these main characteristics:
    1. Localization system is based on a small portable device. This device has a WiFi interface and it is able of executing of the algorithms. The selected device can be a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) or an intelligent phone (PDA+Phone).
    2. It is not necesary to add an adicional HW in the environment. We will use the WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) that it is available in the environment.
    3. The system has an automatic training method based on a robotic platform. The provided map can be adapted to the environment variations.
    4. When the user position is known, the system will guide him through the enviroment up to reach the interesting point.
    5. The system works in real conditions, then it is possible that there are people in the environment. It is important to remark that WiFi technology works in frequency that is very close to the water resonant one.

    • Monitorización de distracciones en conductores mediante un sistema multi-cámara (DRIVER-ALERT)

    Recent data has identified inattention (including distraction and falling asleep at the wheel) as the primary cause of traffic accidents, accounting for at least 25% of the crashes. Then, a growing number of In-vehicle Information Systems (IVIS) and of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) increases the potential driver distraction and his driving behaviours. Distractions detection is a sector that has not been as widely investigated as sleepiness detection. However, deep studies are needed in this sector due to the great relevance that it will reach in the next years. Being conscious of this problem, a system for cognitive and visual distractions detection is proposed in this project for a double goal: 1) to design a system for warning the driver when he is not paying adequate attention to the road, in order to prevent accidents, 2) to analyze the driver behaviour facing the new IVIS and ADAS, in order to integrate them in a safety way.


    • Cabina inteligente para el transporte por carretera II (CABINTEC II)

    Este proyecto tiene como objetivo el diseño del habitáculo de un vehículo dotado con tecnologías inteligentes, capaces de detectar el comportamiento del conductor (hábitos saludables frente a conductas de peligro en el contexto de una conducción segura), así como el estudio de los parámetros que caracterizan al vehículo y al conductor en los instantes previos a un accidente.
